Sandgravy

FAQ

Here are some of our frequently asked questions:

  1. What are Sandgravy online lessons?
  2. Presently, Sandgravy Online lessons are designed to supplement the private lessons the student is already taking. The goal is to add flexibility to both the student's and teacher's schedule, so that when time constraints occur, the student is still able to maintain his/her progress in guitar, On Demand. Thus, the student is able to view lessons on this website that continue right where private lessons left off. Whether the student or teacher is out for just one day or a couple of months, they will be able to pick back up with lessons without going through any sort of hiatus in the student's learning.

  3. Can students that are not in private lessons take video lessons from this website?
  4. Not at the moment. That is the eventual goal, however, and those sort of lessons are projected to be available sometime in the Spring '09.

  5. How much do lessons cost?
  6. Since the only lessons available are private lessons, this question can only pertain to private lessons. Lessons cost $85 for 4 half-hour lessons a month. Whether the student is attending private lessons or continuing lessons online, lesson fees remain $85.

  7. How do I use these lessons?
  8. There are various Levels and subject content which the student can study. Each Level has a description of it on its main page concerning what the lessons will cover and what other material is needed to supplement the video lessons. Please read over the Level's main page. Also, if you place the mouse over each individual lesson in the menu on the left, a box will appear telling you what the lesson is about. If you have any questions concerning where you should start, please feel free to send an e-mail from the contact menu on the left.

  9. Where did you get "Sandgravy"?
  10. My last name is "Gravesande" which is pronounced GRAVE-SAND-E. You should be able to figure it out from there!

  11. What is the logo on the top left corner of the website?
  12. I'm not really sure. It has nothing to do with music, or sand, or gravy, but I think it looks cool.

  13. What do you use to record your videos?
  14. Right now, I am using the iSight on my MacBook Pro to film the videos, and iMovie to edit them. In the near future, I plan on purchasing another webcam and Final Cut Express to upgrade the video lessons.

  15. How long does it take for you to make a video lesson?
  16. It can take a few hours per video, depending on the content and amount of editing needed. I'm no video editor, so my editing probably takes way longer than it should and is probably poorer than those who actually know what they're doing. On a great day, I can do around 3 videos in one day, but normally I crank out 1 per day. Here is a good place for me to note that I prefer to film several videos before I start editing them and posting them on the website. That way, each Level is updated at the same time. So if you notice that there aren't videos being added every day, but then after a few days, a bunch of videos have been added, that's the reason why. I'll post on the Blog homepage when videos have been added.
